The crowds that gathered blocked the road to Sheffield and to Rotherham,
Coronation Street fans without doubt and an experience not to be forgotten.
A Wombwell Shop was opened by Johnny Steele (ex Manager of Barnsley Football Club)

What I have not mentioned before, the police at Attercliffe decided to prosecute us for holding up the traffic and causing unnecessary congestion.
The Magistrates after hearing the circumstances and the case as presented by the police they appreciated the local residents enthusiasm in seeing Elsie and Dennis wanted to dismiss the case but decided to avoid upsetting the police by fining us Fifteen Shillings.
