New NPT Inspector for Wakefield North West
8th December 2009
Dear co-ordinator,
This is an information message.
New Neighbourhood Policing Team Inspector for Wakefield North West.
Wakefield North West Neighbourhood Policing Team has
welcomed a new Inspector to the fold.
Inspector Sally Fryer, who has 19 years of policing experience, has
taken up the reins from Inspector Marcus Roberts who remains at the
division in charge of a response team.
Inspector Fryer’s role will involve helping improve public
confidence in the police, increasing customer satisfaction and trust
and she wants her team to be accessible, responsive and visible in
the local neighbourhood.
Inspector Fryer began her police career in 1990 as a police
constable covering patrol duties in Weetwood. She moved on to
Chapeltown three years later where she was initially on patrol and
then became part of a street offences team tackling robbery, drug
dealing and associated criminality.
She then returned to Weetwood where she spent a while in the Road
Traffic Department before being promoted to the rank of Sergeant in
1997 and going back out and about on patrol.
In 2000 she was promoted a second time to become a Duty Inspector at
Force Communications before transferring across to Castleford where
she covered response duties/geographic policing for approximately 12
months.
Inspector Fryer then moved to London where she spent around 18
months of her service at the Home Office Police Standards Unit
working with the National Project Manager on issues surrounding
anti-social behaviour.
During her time in London she was part of a team that reviewed and
standardised the way that UK police forces record anti-social
behaviour issues.
She returned to West Yorkshire Police in 2005 to become the Quality
and Performance Manager at Communications Division before spending
some time in Corporate Review looking at crimes and incidents and
making sure they were accurately recorded to Home Office standards.
“I’m very much looking forward to taking over from Marcus and
building on the good relationships the team already has with local
partners and residents,” she said.
“I will be out and about during my first few weeks getting to know
the local community and would encourage people to come up and say
hello to me and also to attend our local Police and Community
Together (PACT) meetings to tell us what concerns them. You can find
the details of our meetings on our website
www.westyorkshire.police.uk/npt."
Inspector Fryer is married to husband David and has two young
children, a boy aged two and a half and a girl aged eight months.
