Police and Wakefield Students say not in our city

Think Life Not Knife.
West Yorkshire Police and students from Wakefield will hold an anti
gun and knife crime event in the city centre on Saturday, 2nd
October under the banner 'Not in Our City'.
The event is a joint venture between West Yorkshire Police's PC Rory
Romani, who is behind the 'Think Life Not Knife' campaign (a weapon
awareness presentation that has now been given to thousands of
children at schools and youth groups across the region), as well as
Wakefield NPT and Wakefield College.
The campaign has been created in a bid to raise weapons awareness
across all ages and has recruited students from the college to help
On Saturday, students from the colleges, as well as officers from
the Wakefield Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) and Operational
Mineral, will be in the city centre to raise awareness about the
risks of getting involved with weapons and gang culture.
The campaign will see police and students talking to members of the
public and handing out leaflets featuring information on the
police's Think Life Not Knife work across the region. This follows a
week long anti-knife campaign that PC Romani will be holding at the
PC Rory Romani - of the Operational Support Division - said:
"Following on from the success of Operation Mineral I wanted to take
the messages from that work to a wider audience. I also want to show
the people of West Yorkshire - not just the region's young people -
both the dangers of
getting involved with weapons and how seriously the police deal with

ensure that these important messages are delivered by PC Romani and
the NPT officers. This is an opportunity for officers to have
quality, face to face interaction with the communities we serve and
to speak openly about these difficult issues."
