The New Selby Swing Bridge (picture taken while under construction)
The Selby bypass crosses two navigable waterways:
the Selby Canal and the tidal River Ouse
As the tidal River Ouse still carries shipping to Selby, the spectacular new bridge over the river,
a mile downstream from Selby, is able to swing through ninety degrees with traffic light controls.
