CASTAWAY
NOTES
GENERAL COMMENTS:
Lighting:
All light switches are on the
light fittings other than corridor lights - a single switch towards the
stern.
All lights are 12V except the saloon front lights and centre side lanterns
which are 240V.
(the bedroom table lamp is also 240V)
Inverter:
The 1800W Sterling Inverter is located in the corridor - towards the
stern.
The small blue rocker switch should be set to the 'REMOTE' position and
the rocker switch on the white 'remote' box can then be used to switch the
inverter on or off.
DO NOT SWITCH THE INVERTER OFF IF THE COOLING FAN IS RUNNING.
13A sockets are located on the end of the inverter (seldom used).
Though the inverter will supply sufficient power for the microwave oven,
toaster, ONE 1kW element of the electric fire, ONLY
ONE of these items should be
operated at any one time. It is a good idea to run the engine in order
that much of the power is taken from the alternator rather than the
batteries. This also provides a load for the engine if the boat is
not 'under way', rather than running the propeller as an engine load when
heating the water and charging the batteries from the engine.
Battery Management
System:
The Sterling battery management system
is located in the corridor - towards the stern.
LED's indicate the current charge situation.
Possible Future
Improvements:
Wheelhouse or Stern
Canopy:
A small amount of water stands on the stern deck and first step - easily swept off with
a pan & brush but could be dangerous when dark and / or iced.
Some anti-slip matting could improve safety.
A wheelhouse or stern canopy would prevent this AND provide additional
storage space.
Front Cockpit:
A front 'cratch board' and top plank would enable a canopy
to be fitted over the front cockpit, thus providing additional storage
space.
