Update 16th September, 2011 .......  When replacing 150 watt light bulbs which DENIS HAD FITTED I realised that Denis ALMOST CERTAINLY fell while fitting the 150 watt light bulb above his bed !!! (he had also fitted one in his hall - hence I noticed the HEAT!
Denis wouldn’t dare tell us because he knew we had warned him not to !!   [I suppose, ‘technically’, he did fall OFF the bed but not while dreaming etc.]
I informed Denis that ALL Incandescent light bulbs are now illegal.

September, 2011
Denis fell out of bed !!  He cut his head quite badly on a metal drawer knob which caused quite a lot of bleeding.  He used towels to stem the bleeding and used the red emergency system to request help.  An initial response ambulance arrived and the paramedic was concerned and waited for the main ambulance.  They used 'butterfly stitches' and Denis did not need to go to hospital.  The wound is healing nicely (posted 11th September, 2011)

Thursday 14th July, 2011
Denis visited St James's Hospital for checks on the problems with 'growths' on his head.
The problem behind his ear now seems to be clear - the doctor stated that it was sun cancer.
The 'growth' on his forehead is now also much better.  The doctor stated that this was due to 'sun damage' but was not cancer.  The wound was 'frozen' and Denis is to return in three months time for a further check on progress.

Wednesday 4th May, 2011
Sadly, Denis's brother James was transferred back to Hospital where he died early morning on Wednesday 4th May, 2011  R.I.P. James

James was cremated on Monday 9th May - Niece Maureen & Husband Sean travelled from Ireland to New York to attend the cremation and sort out matters with a solicitor, with James's flat, etc. - a lot of work in a very short time !

Wednesday 4th May, 2011
Denis had a fall in his lounge a couple of weeks ago and has a very badly bruised foot & ankle.  He was managing ok & refusing help , (shopping, etc.), from June & I.

However ......
On Monday, 2nd May, Denis was admitted to St James Hospital for an x-ray and other checks.  It seems that he has a slight fracture to a toe and anti-biotic treatment has to be carefully monitored due to current medication.

Denis was in the 'Clinical Decisions Unit' but is now home again (Wednesday), though June & I think he should have stayed longer.

Phyllis & Maureen - Nieces from Ireland - visited Denis in April, 2010.

They came over on Wednesday, 7th April & returned Friday 9th April - staying in the Marriott Hotel - Duncan Street, Leeds.  They visited Denis on Thursday 8th and returned later to see Denis, myself, (Melvin), June and - of course 'Chloe' our Toy Poodle.
Later we had a few drinks and games of Bingo at St. Joseph's Catholic Club - Hunslet
