Michael McDonagh, 24, of Shires Grove, died on January 14th, 2006.  Two years on from his tragic death, his family and friends from the Cheers pub gathered to raise a glass in his honour from 2:00pm.

Mr McDonagh, an architectural technologist, was in the pool league at Cheers.  Since his death, a group of Mr Mcdonagh's friends ran the Great North Run and raised more than £ 2,000 for motor neurone disease, which his mum, Marie, suffers from.

Cheers landlady Yvonne Haymes said: "It's an opportunity to celebrate his life".
